This overhaul of an estate in Travis Heights included a renovation to a 1940 bungalow and a ground-up secondary dwelling unit. We preserved the exterior of the bungalow with traditional trim and porch details, but updated the color palette to sharpen its profile and bring it out from the depths of the forest.

The secondary dwelling is designed for flexibility of use as a guest house, home office, secondary living space and poolside cabana. Principles of universal design have been incorporated, such as wide doorways, a low entry transition, and a roll-in shower, which create greater viability for future needs and multi-generational housing.
