ARROWHEAD
Sited on a point overlooking Lake Travis, this new home serves as a weekend and holiday retreat for immediate family and friends as well as many relatives and guests from afar. Summer visits to the mediterranean inspired the desire for a dramatic and romantic experience of central Texas daylight, and for the ease with which life revolves in warm climates.

House and courtyard are elevated on a plinth above the floodplain, enhancing views of the main basin of the lake and capturing breezes.
Avid gardeners, the owners fully embrace the outdoors with a southern facing and densely planted courtyard. Kitchen, outdoor grilling and herb gardening are closely interconnected. A plunge pool cools off the area and a barrel vaulted loggia provides deeper shade on warm summer mornings. Citrus trees get brought to the porches for protection during flash freezes. A floral room inside serves to prepare arrangements throughout the year.
A traditional architectural language is utilized to scale the house in the context of existing structures, including an old stone cabin affectionately known as the 'fish camp’. Curves of arches, round columns, and divided lite windows serve to soften the framing of views and create a middle ground where the interaction of indoors and outdoors is enhanced.
Inside, rooms are individually defined, with close attention to the connections between. Nooks, built-in storage, and daybeds create smaller zones of use and delight.
