MESA OAKS
The owners of this 1969 house were ready for a project to bring design continuity and improved functionality to their home. They had previously invested in a new pool, deck and landscape which brought some excitement to daily life, but the interior still felt disconnected to the outdoors.
-
Our first observation was how the rear addition, built by a prior owner, felt out of place in comparison to the street facade. The owners wanted to maintain the feel of the homes in their neighborhood while giving their house a modern update after fifteen years of family life. A big focus was to overhaul the kitchen, which was isolated in the middle of the floor plan without much natural light or connection to the living spaces.
Our project sought to connect the rooms to enhance function and sociability, open up to a new encounter with the backyard, and render the front of the house more vividly.
